Ken Russell and Teresa Sarnoff in runoff

I live blogged Tuesday's voting results (see below). In the end Ken Russell and Teresa Sarnoff are in the November 17 runoff. They had the top two votes. Grace Solares was only 86 votes shy of Teresa.

If Ken gets most of the votes from the other candidates, Teresa will be out of the picture. She had almost half the amount of his votes - 1552 to his 2725 total votes.

Just goes to show you that all that money from the developers didn't mean a thing. People are ready for a change. Let's see how it goes in two weeks on November 17.

Sarnoff should get the message and retire in order to avoid spending any more taxpayer money on another election. Most of everyone else's votes will go to Ken. That being said. I hope Ken, the commissioner, will count on the rest of the candidates input going forward. They were all great community members and they all deserve our thanks.

Ms. Sarnoff, please bow out. Message was clear. Don't make everyone spend more money which is really needed elsewhere.

Nice seeing Johnny Winton, Frank Corrolo, and Seth Gordon at Russell's party. In Miami, you get what you pay for. Business as usual in the city of Miami. Coconut Grove, aren't you happy? You're either going to get Sarnoff back or the people that Sarnoff threw out if Russell wins. Business as usual in Miami. We all lose again.

If God, Jesus, The Pope, Mother Teresa, or Gandhi had won this race I wager some of you would remark "We all lose again". You may be a loser, but I'm not, no matter who wins, i.e., if the Sarnoff's are out some of you will simply vilify whoever takes his position. Damn if you do and damn if you don't!?

Ken is going to be a positive and progressive force for the whole district, no more friends and family access as we had in the past nine years. No doubt he has hard work ahead to regain the trust and ethical foundations that was lost with Sarnoff.

Ken will win the runoff. He will have a fresh chance to clean up the dirt. Let's stay positively focused and involved in our communities so we can make Miami a better place. Ken will listen.

Let's not bury Teresa quite yet. They now know the number (roughly) that it will take Teresa to muster on the 17th.

I would think Marc and his friends would be able to "find" 2 or 3,000 votes in a couple of week's time.

Teresa has come a long way. Remember, she had no community involvement. She is almost universally reviled in the Grove, but she still finished second. I just worry that that is precisely where Marc wanted her to be. He knows what he needs to do.

I think we all need to continue working and even up our efforts. I think the other candidates should endorse Ken. Hey, 39 votes here and 35 votes there could help.

THEY SHOULD ENDORSE KEN, PUBLICLY. SEND OUT MAILERS STATING THEIR SUPPORT FOR KEN. BUT I AGREE, STOP SPENDING MONEY AND TIME. THIS WAS A WAKE UP CALL FOR SARNOFF. WALK AWAY. BUT I ALSO AGREE, IF SHE DECIDES TO KEEP ON GOING, THE SARNOFF MACHINE MUST NOT BE UNDERESTIMATED AND MORE THAN EVER, EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO OUT AND VOTE AGAIN...FOR KEN.

Don't count Sarnoff out yet. All she had to do was get to the second round.

Turnout was around 15%
Sarnoff specializes in low turn out elections

Do you know if they will send absentee ballots again for the runoff 11/17?
Waste of money considering all the homeless she "supports". We refuse to let another Sarnoff in.

It is appalling behavior for the Sarnoffs to stay in. It is evident that they are despised by the residents and neighbors that surround them. Yet they will spend more city money to advance their selfish needs. They only increase the scorn they deserve by such shallow maneuvering. They do not live in a bubble. They know that they are hated. DO NOT FORGET TO VOTE AGAINST THE SARNOFF MACHINE.
