Prez. Obama visiting the Grove on Wednesday

So President Obama will be in Coconut Grove on Wednesday, May 27. Traffic should be a nightmare around 17th Avenue for one of the events. One event is at the home of mortgage broker Joe Falk and another at the home of developer Stephen Bittel. They both raised lots of money for Obama's last campaign and these fundraisers are for the Democratic party.

According to the Palm Beach Post, between 20 and 25 people will attend the event at the Falk house by donating $33,400. At the Bittel's dinner, the donation is $10,000 per person or $15,000 per couple and about 45 people will be attending.

One event is on or near Micanopy off of 17th in the North Grove and the other in the South Grove off of Braganza.

Hillary Clinton may be in town later in the week.

On a side note, Vice President Joe Biden is in the Grove often, Adrienne Arsht has two houses in that Brickell Hammock area, you know, where Madonna used to live? And Joe stays in one of the houses when he's in town. You can tell when he is around because the outside of the neighborhood on South Bayshore Drive is crawling with black official cars which are part of his security detail.

So, whether you like him or not, you'll pay for the Air Force One, the added police, the airport, etc, so Mr. Obama can collect money for his party!

I think we're lucky to have been born and/or are privileged to live in the United States of America and have millions of men & women in uniform in our military and police forces, an Executive, Congress, Senate, Supreme Court, State and local governments who all pull together to collect taxes to pay for the equipment and resources, and a free press that is necessary to spread our form of government throughout our planet. Obama's visit to my community and whatever minor inconvenience this might create is okay with me. Jobie Steppe

Shut down a major city at rush hour so a bunch of self-serving privileged assholes can go surround themselves with their supporters for events that contribute nothing whatsoever to our community, city, state, or country... Gotta love politics!

My kids were delighted to see his car go by. He waved good bye and the traffic on 17th was not backed up for more that 15 minutes.
Great day for the Grove! And yes: Go Hillary!
