Trolley service to be added to Village West?

The City of Miami has done nothing in the way of bringing the fee trolley service to Coconut Grove. I am hoping that our new Commissioner and hopefully County Mayor, will see it differently.

Luckily, there may be a trolley on the horizon from our neighbor Coral Gables. It will only cover Village West, but that's a start. According to the City of Coral Gables officals, the City of Coral Gables will begin a pilot program for the trolley service to extend to the Village West area here in Coconut Grove. The plan is to start the experiment in June this year.

After six months, the progress will be presented to the Gables City Commission for revisions, changes and/or approval. The service will operate from 6:30 am to 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

The existing Gables trolley will continue their route at Peacock Avenue, which is west of US 1, a bit west of the Douglas Road Metrorail Station. It will then proceed down Douglas Road until reaching Grand Avenue. The trolley will make a stop at Douglas and Grand and then continue down Grand until it reaches the US 1 stop. Stops will include Booker Street, Jefferson Street and Lincoln Drive. The route will then circle around on US1 and Jefferson to proceed back up the same route.

Hopefully it makes sense for them to extend the route into the Center Grove some time in the future.

Hilarious. Yes, our poor Grove needs all the help it can get from our rich, big brother up North. Thanks! our dreams of having a Trolley finally might come true!

Can you guys chip in a bit of your free parking too? Oh, and lend us some real Engineers to teach us how to make street repairs in less than 20 years. Thanks!!

Stop with the free parking - its not going to happen.

Coral Gables doesn't have free parking.

South Miami doesn't have free parking.

Free parking is not the problem.
