Bombay Darbar moving to Florida Avenue

Well, it's settled, after all the comments about Cuban restaurants and bagel places, as expected, Bombay Darbar is moving to Florida Avenue, they are taking the former TK's at Villa Mayfair space (2901 Florida Avenue). TK's closed a couple of weeks ago. Wish every empty storefront could be filled that fast.

Bombar Darbar is vacating their former place because the rent was raised a lot and they really don't have a decent kitchen there. It's amazing the incredible food that comes out of that tiny kitchen, I can just imagine the treat we are in for at the new location. They were overflowing with the few tables they had at the Commodore Plaza location, so this new location should accommodate them perfectly with outdoor and plenty of indoor seating.

I had seen Danny, the owner, scoping out TK's last week, but I didn't want to say anything to maybe spook him off, so I just walked by. Bombay Darbar opened on Commodore Plaza in January 2010, they have been successful since they moved in. I used to go there two or three times a week, I sort of settled down, but I may start attending on a regular basis again at their new location. I love everything on their menu.

They will need a couple of months to set up shop according to Danny, the owner.

That's great news! Their current location is pretty cramped. Looking forward to stopping by when they move

That's great! I hope they do well in that big location. Remember what happened to the other Indian place, Anoka, when they moved into the Grove Spot location? They didn't last six months. Hopefully that won't happen to them. I love their food!

They should do well because it is well operated but they should hold on to the current location as long as possible just in case lack of foot traffic takes a bite.

Love this restaurant -- it will be important to maintain the fun close tables like they had and that Strada has. The food is to die for! Good luck!

Close tables so that other patrons and waiters can rub up on you while you eat? No thanks. They can keep that in Europe and New York

I hope they can survive in that location, TK's had great food, but lacked on marketing and foot traffic. Bombay has destination guests (people traveling specifically for their restaurant), so hopefully that translates to florida ave. They should triple their capacity, and have closer parking.

Anokha overexpanded in the grove spot location. Hopefully we don't see a repeat.

Bombay Darbar is the best indian joint in all of south florida, and I'm glad they are getting more space as it was impossible to eat there after 7pm. However, I'm sad to see TK's go, I loved that place. Probably didn't help him to get sued out of the blue for using his own name on his restarant by a litigious loser - it's expensive.

I just hope BD can keep the quality high with higher volume. that's always the risk.
