Diane Lary, shown here among her work, is back this year for her 14th St. Stephen's Art Show. Diane works exclusively in watercolor. She's won quite a few awards over the years from the Award of Merit at St. Stephen's in 2014 to First Place at Pinecrest Gardens Art Festival, The Painter's Award at the Northwest Watercolor Society annual exhibit and president's Circle Award in the San Diego Watercolor Society International Exhibition, just to name a few. She's won many.
Diane's love of art started with her mother, who was a ceramist who used to do shows in Michigan, where Diane grew up. "I remember going with her to some of them when I was 10 or 12 years old," she says. Diane's first show was in 1998, at Cauley Square. It was a small show but gave her confidence to venture further into the "art circuit life," as she calls it.
When asked what her favorite piece is, she said, "That’s hard to say, it seems each time I paint a new, involved, painting it seems to become my favorite. But if I had to pick one I’d have to say 'That Knot’s Yours.' It hasn’t sold, yet. But that’s ok because I can still enjoy it. I think it’s the simple strength it portrays. This is the piece at left.Besides St Stephens, over the years I’ve done Beaux Arts, South Miami, Art in the Park (Fairchild, Coral Reef park & a couple at the Palmetto Bay Village Center), Pinecrest Gardens Art Festival, Weston, Delray Affair, and a few at Cauley Square.
