Under the Kampong Moon

The Kampong is having five enchanting evenings of traditional Balinese music, dance and shadow puppetry under the direction of Dr. Andy McGraw of the University of Richmond and Balinese master artist Gusti Sudarta. The performances begin with a female offering dance, followed by topang (mask dance). Then enjoy one of Asia's great forms of drama, Wayan kulit (Shadow Play). 

All performances accompanied by gamelan musicians. Performances are approximately 1 hour 15 minutes long.

The Kampong will open at 5 pm for visitors wanting to see the garden in daylight. Krakatoa Indonesian Cuisine will have Balinese tapas available for purchase from 5 to 6:30 pm. Performances begin at 6:30 pm. 

$35 adults/$15 children (ages 4-12 yrs), Dec. 29, Dec. 30, Jan. 1, Jan. 2, Jan. 3.

There will also be two workshops offered:
Bamboo Instrument Making: Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2 pm $20
Shadow Puppet Workshop for kids: Friday, Jan. 2, 2 pm $5

At $35 per person, expect the usual attendance.. A grand total of 7 or 8 old, rich people with nothing much to do. Ok, maybe a record 10 people, including a couple of kids! These burlesque, elite "events" are nothing more than a pretentious, exclusive joke around here.
