After a successful inaugural season, Fashion + Art + Music (FAM) Night returns on Saturday, October 4, from 7:00 to 10:00 pm in Coconut Grove’s business district and will continue every first Saturday until June. Visitors are invited to enjoy cultured packed nights where galleries’ open their doors, trunk shows take over the boutiques and live music fills the streets.

The full night event is free and open to the public. Enjoy the Pumpkin Patch in the day and end it with FAM Night - make it a full day and night of Coconut Grove events!

In October, art galleries such as Coconut Grove Arts Festival will present multi-genre artist and cinematographer, Carlos Llerena Aguierre, who has published drawings, illustrations and woodcuts in international journals, books, magazines, and children’s books. FrameWorks is set to host local artist, Mai Yap, who specializes in landscape paintings created intricately with palette knives.  In addition, local students from Academy of Arts & Minds High School will paint live for visitors to experience.

Accordingly to Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator, Jaclyn Segedin, of the Coconut Grove Business Improvement District, “FAM Night affords visitors a broad range of unique and cultural experiences for anyone at any age.” For example, if you are looking for a family-friendly art experience, look no further than Art Box, who will be hosting a "Witch's Potion Workshop." In this special Halloween-themed activity, kids will be able to create and take home their own gooey slime!  There will also be a balloon-popping raffle, which gives the kids an opportunity to take home some fun prizes.

Along with the art and fashion, live music will fill the sidewalks as visitors stroll from shop to shop. The Academy of Arts & Minds will perform a mix of genres and styles such as jazz and classical hits. Miami “Folk Dub” musician, Adrian Gonzalez, is set to play at Vino’s in the Grove, where visitors will enjoy a loop base performance that blends acoustic and electronic sounds.  On Commodore Plaza, Zach Jones, a one-man indie/folk band, will be making his way South from Fort Pierce to perform a soulful set of acoustics.  At CocoWalk, catch local Miami Drummer, Chris Rod, live with his take on today’s pop and yesterday’s rock.

And of course it wouldn't be FAM Night without the Coconut Grove Drum Circle. We'll announce their new location next week. New home for a new season of fun.

Karen and Richard and the Drum Circle will be taking off for a much needed rest for the months of October and November. We will be returning December 6th to a new location. Will let you know as soon as the plans are complete. More than likely it will be in the Mayfair area.
Thanks Liz Gibson
