Blue Starlight Drive-In opens Monday

The Blue Starlite Urban Drive-In opens Monday, July 14 right here in Coconut Grove. Named 2014’s Best Movie Theater by Miami New Times in their Best of Miami poll, the drive-in is sure to be a welcome addition to the Grove this summer. As the New Times puts it,  “a trip to the drive-in is always perfect way to spend a few hours away from the real world.”

The drive-in started out in Wynwood in 2013 as an authentic boutique drive-in specializing in indie, art house, cult, and Gen X/Y pop culture films. Along with an escape from reality, the Blue Starlite brings a distinct vibe, an arty-cool energy.

The Coconut Grove location is in a quiet spot behind the Coconut Grove Playhouse. There is large pedestrian seating area and space for more cars than at the previous Wynwood space.

“We’re thrilled that Miamians appreciate and are enjoying the unmistakable atmosphere and style of our drive-in,” said Josh Frank, owner of the Blue Starlite Urban Drive-In. “What’s even better is that we haven’t even celebrated our first anniversary and we’re receiving this recognition. It’s truly an honor,” said Josh.

Josh is an entrepreneur, writer, producer, director and composer. He has penned numerous plays, including an authorized adaptation of Werner Hergoz’s Stroszek, screenplays, including an adaptation of Mark Vonnegut's The Eden Express, and musicals, including The Jonathan Richman Musical.

Movies start at 8:30 pm, unless otherwise noted and the schedule is subject to change.

We had a great time going to the Blue Starlight at Virginia Key to see Grease for Valentines Day, I like the idea of teaming up with the Taurus but during the summer you're not going to get much of a breeze.
