No don't make this another non profit venture that charges the public to use public streets for its own profit, please.

I just returned and plan to go back for the finals. It's fun, really, and the 5 bucks go to charity. It's not at all like the pumpkin thing. Lighten up.

This is yet another event that I enjoyed that priced itself out for me this year. I've gone to the bed race every year for gosh I don't remember how many years.

This one just seems ill-conceived. Once again, I have to pay for parking. Next, admission for my little family. And food and beverages which have never really been cheap. Then schlep down to the middle of nowhere/future site of Shulas and miss the ambiance of the Center Grove and its restaurants and bars and places just to hang both during and after. (It's not like there aren't long delays in this event.)

I'm kind of disappointed, but football on TV today is good.

I rode to South Miami Art Fair for the conch fritters. I met a couple on bikes at the conch fritter stand. I told them I had just returned from the Bed Race. They said they were planning to ride there. I indicated that there was now a $5 entrance fee. They could not believe it. They thanked me for the info and said they would not go and would just stay at the Art Fair longer. Everyone I spoke with feels that any event that uses our public streets must be open to the public and not charge a fee to attend. You have to ask what is it about the Grove and Miami, that these events seem more about greed and profit than entertainment and serving the needs of our community?

Wynwood Gallery Night: Free
South Beach Art Deco Fest: Free
Coral Gables Oktoberfest: Free
South Miami Art Fair: Fee
Key Biscayne Art Fair: Free
U of M Beaux Art Fair: Free

Coconut Grove Art Fair: Fee
Coconut Grove Bed Race: Fee

How soon before other Grove events will also have a fee?
Coconut Grove Halloween Party
Coconut Grove 4th of July Fireworks
Coconut Grove King Mango Strut

I salute the folks from West Grove who decided to cancel Goombay Festival this year rather than pay like the rest of us through the nose.

Thia is really bad for the grove.i also ran into alot of people at the south miami arts festival which is great btw.that were not happy about new location of the races and the ridiculuos fee.events in the grove should be free and i think parking should be free aswell.come on the grove needs business why charge parking.and i think the church should sell the drinks and food for a much cheaper price.these prices are outrageuos!!!!!!

11:24 AM, 11:37 AM, and 8:06 PM (same person):

All you do is complain. Do you even attend all the events that you have a problem with? Your constant trolling is getting old.
