LoKal receives award as Greenest Restaurant

The Nature Conservatory hosted an award ceremony at LoKal on Tuesday. LoKal won the award for being the Greenest Restaurant and most Sustainable Restaurant in Miami. Owner Matt Kuscher (center in hat), received the award from the Nature Conservatory crew along with Commissioner Marc Sarnoff and Peter Laird, Grove Chamber president, also Mark Towbridge, Coral Gables Chamber president.

LoKal has been featuring the special Nature’s Plate burger  these last few days. Today, November 20 is the last day it will be on the menu, although it should be a staple. The burger is made with locally sourced ingredients including grass-fed beef from Florida Fresh Meat Company in Ocala, portabella mushrooms from Central Florida, local avocados, rooftop arugula, red onions, jack cheese, and LoKal’s homemade sauce. LoKal makes all of its own sauces, including the ketchup!

“We try to do everything to raise awareness like buying clean energy, composting all our waste, buying everything local, making art out of trash,” said Matt. “It makes us feel so proud that Miami realizes we are much more than a burger joint but instead a casual farm-to-table concept trying to do the right thing for our environment.”

Local is located at 3190 Commodore Plaza.
