Commission agrees to hire more police
The City's budget meeting was a success last night for Coconut Grove neighbors who had demanded more police officers on the streets in light of the uptick in crime these past few months. The meeting went well into the night before the final vote.
It was a unanimous vote and the budget will be amended. 95 new police officers will be hired and be on the streets by spring, about 25 will hit the streets by the end of this year.
Police officers who were present preferred to have their benefits returned (salary and pension) before new officers were hired.

Thank you Fernand Amandi for all of your help to bring more police to the Grove.
Hire and deploy only the ones with the highest IQs and education, weed out the dumb ones no matter ow connected they are.
It Does not Matter if there are more police. When the economy is getting worse crime gets worse. For example look at the gables mansion that got robbed the other day.Its A GATED COMMUNITY ! with 24 hour security and its own police detail.And guess What happened? So keep dreaming that more police is the answer to crime.
It's a fake gate.
Sweet, now the circle by peacock park and the convenience store, teh two locatiosn where cops contanstly sit in their cars and hang out doing nothing all day, will be extra secure.
TAKE AWAY THEIR CARS!!!
They also sit in front of Milam's all night long
