The Strutters are getting ready for this year's King Mango Strut, which will happen Sunday, December 27, 2009.
Now is the time to prepare your marching units at 2 pm, on the last Sunday of the year, thousands will be ready to experience one of the Grove's best signature events.
The Mangoheads met last night at Greenstreet to discuss this year's event. Earlier in the day, the BID handed over $15,000 to help defray the costs of this year's strut and another $15,000 held back from last year.
This year's theme is "Public Options Rule."

"Public Options Rule"
ReplyDeleteI'm a *little mentally challenged so I'm not sure what that means, although I'm sure it's very funny.
*(Most people will say more than a little).
This years theme should be
ReplyDeleteEgos and Irony: how the strut was nearly destroyed by stubborn, selfish, egocentric megalomaniacs, and has become what it once mocked.
Maybe a little too long to be catchy.
I'm with Tony on not getting the joke.
ReplyDeleteHow about MANGOBAMA II?
Anon 3:20,
ReplyDeleteIn this instance, "megalomaniac" is singular, not plural.
I like Obama, voted for him and all, but am upset with his for several reasons. His most current mistake: announcing he will not sign the 1997 Ottawa Treaty.
ReplyDeleteLets leave Mangobama with good memories.. We dont need a repeat.
"Public Options Rule" as the theme? Is this the beginning of the "New, Unfunny King Mango Strut?"
ReplyDeleteI don't get it either.
ReplyDeleteNo, no, we need "MANGOBAMA II!"
